If you don’t like games that lack very direct forwards momentum you might not like this, but if you are a fan of this level of freedom you’ll love it. The best part is that it’s completely up to me what I want to do though. My duties vary from backing up castle sieges to scouting behind lines with my small force. The fun comes from finding and building connections and armies, and dealing with all the surprises in between.Ĭurrently I have become a mercenary clan in service of the Nordic king, waging war against fictional mongols. You start by setting up your characters backstory and then are basically dropped in the middle of the world with next to nothing, and most importantly, no one to support you. It’s very surprisingly fun becoming a feudal lord, but what I find most fun about the game is the level of freedom it gives you. You amass supporters and then take to the battlefield to test your personal skill and your capability of leading an army. In the game you start as a nobody, but you can go from town to town and throughout 6 or so various kingdoms and recruit people to your army. If you aren’t familiar, mount and blade is an Rpg that takes place in a fictional feudal middle ages, so basically medieval Europe. I’ve also never delved much into the marriage mechanics in warband, so I honestly can’t say if it would make a difference in the situation you described.What a fantastic game! I was very pleasantly surprised by this game, especially after looking into all the mods that are available. I will say, however, that I’ve never heard of a mod that approaches anything like the level of “court intrigue” found in Crusader Kings. For instance if you accumulate a ton of honor, you’ll start to slowly gain reputation with “upstanding” lords (even ones you’ve never met) purely by reputation, while lords with the “pitiless” personality will start to dislike you.
One of my favorite additions is that lords of different personalities tend to gravitate to you according to your play style.
You get treasurers which give your fiefs more financial options, military advisors who can recruit and train troops for you, and other perks. It’s become so popular that many other mods have absorbed it’s features (giving them odd names, like “Diplomacy4Litdum,” which is pretty much what I consider my “vanilla” Warband experience.)ĭiplomacy gives the player more options and tools for dealing with other kingdoms and with nobles, as well as managing your own kingdom.
I assume you mean Warband? The best mod I’ve found for adding “politics” is the “Diplomacy” mod, in one of its many, many variations.
